High-Altitude Skincare, High-Altitude Skin Care Tips – Slovakia Trip October’15

In high altitude you might experience your skin to be dehydrated, flaky, wind-burned, desiccated, simply sensitive to changes of cold temperature and mountain weather.

It has been a while since I got back from a mountain trip in Slovakia – October 2015. It was an exhilarating experience with sunny days and clear skies. The end of September throughout the first of week of October, that’s the time to go… – you might just be lucky to catch Indian Summer if, decide to go for a hiking trip at the same time as we did.

Lomnicky Stit 2634m ( nickname Lomnicak ) is one of the sought out attraction of the Slovakian mountains. It is the second highest peak after Gerlachovsky Stit 2654m and most visited place. In a good conditions, in a good sunny weather you can have a spectacular panoramic view of the whole area to Belianske Tatras and as far as Polish lowlands. It is a short quick cable car journey which starts from Skalnate Pleso 1751m where is an Astronomical Observatory in Slovakia. Over the years, the peak became so popular with tourists that I would highly advice to book tickets in advance.

It was unforgettable experience and the good weather conditions were on our side. For 50 minutes which we had there, we enjoyed a ‘really nice’ cup of tea and, traditional 1 shot of Slivovica ( some might known as Slivovitz, a plum distillate of 52% ) We stayed sitting and admiring the view around for a little while after that. It was much safer.

By Terry Soleil Terrybly Hydra Bronzing Tinted Serum

It’s revolutionary tinted serum. Gives you instant dewy look on the skin and with a little amount of the colour you get instantly healthy and sun-kissed look. Can be used on top of the moisturiser, mixing with your own moisturiser as well as applying together which will saves your precious time.

High – Altitude Tips

Cleanse with gentle cleanser, don’t scrub. Be gentle with your skin. I would prefer something more balmy’ or creamy’ in these conditions. Skin is already fighting with the high-altitude temperature so calming cleanser which is the first product you will apply on your skin would help to calm and soothe. Try; Elemental Herbology Moisture Replenish “Purify & Soothe” luxurious balm rich in botanical oils. Argan and Sesame Oils nourish the skin and helping protecting against wind, cold and dry air. Love this balmy texture and smells divine, reminds me of being in the spa. Or, Oskia Perfect Cleanser Nutri-Active Cleansing & Nourishing Balm rich in vitamins, minerals and omegas and Prebiotics. ( MSM, Zinc Glycine, Vitamin E, Omegas 3,6 and 9 ).

Layer on the moisture. Don’t do thick layers of creams. Rather use lighter skincare and do layering of hydration. I know it is more steps to do but its so worth it on a long run, please trust me and invest a time to at least try it for yourself. My Hero Favorite – Colbert MD Nutrify & Protect Day Cream or even try; Zelens Hydro-Shiso Balancing Moisturiser  has a unique bioavailable lipid complex and phenomenal ability to retain up to 1000 times in molecular weight in water.

Invest in superhero serum or oil. In summer months you might just get away with a good moisturiser but in winter, I would highly recommend either super-hydrating serum or face oil. I have tried many over the years but, this revolutionary face and eye serum never disappointed me. Chantecaille Vital Essence is gentle, lightweight serum which instantly hydrate, soothe irritation and plump skin too. One of the best Face Hydrating Serum I have tried ( excellent for any skin type even most sensitive ) and, the Face Oil – Colbert MD Illumino Face Oil is a beautiful dry oil which smooth your skin instantly, improves skin’s overall tone and gives you lovely glow. Love the sweet smell from marula oil. Use on a clean skin before your daily moisturiser and before your SPF.
