Bespoke Bridal Makeup – Charlotte’s Wedding

It was on Saturday of early September and, I was driving to Old Amersham to The Crown Inn to do Charlotte’s Bridal makeup. Her mum and lovely bridesmaids were already there too and hair-do’s were in a full swing.

Wedding it is one of the most exciting and beautiful moment for two people to tie the knot and decide to walk their life together side by side. I do get strangely excited about Weddings and, I was thrilled to be part of Charlotte’s morning makeup and hair creation.

Preparation is a key and, we have heard this many times. Well, it is true. Having all make up-ready, makes me more relaxed. On the picture below you can see my make up bits taken a day before, on gorgeous sunny day. It does make a huge difference when you have a good natural lighting on your side.

Make up and make up brushes ready for Charlotte’s Bridal Make up

I have not shared with you makeup brushes for a while and, I believe an artist needs to invest in her/his tools. It makes a massive difference on the final results. But, I m sure you already know that so let’s get straight to it. Let’s share with you my ‘tool favourites.’

Make up Tools

By Terry All Over Powder Brush – Dome

It is the softest powder brush I have ever worked with. The natural bristles feels really soft on the skin and the over all effect with this generous dome shape brush is flawless finish. There are some powder brushes which I have used and loved it – Kevyn Aucoin and Hourglass but, for those loose powders with finest pigments, By Terry All Over Powder Brush is the Best!

Laura Mercier Finishing Brush

Who wouldn’t like a finishing brush? Some use the finishing brush for foundations, some for finishing mineral powders loose or pressed, ideal for with shimmer blocks, excellent for Hourglass blushes and Ambient Lighting Palettes and, also Illuminating palettes.

Spectrum Marbleous

There are four Marbleous make up brushes on the picture. Back in March this year, I took 44-days vegan challenge and, searching for vegan make up brushes became natural to me. Spectrum Marbleous were reasonable price and it was about a time to try vegan registered and cruelty free tools. So pleased I did. They blend like a dream. Recommend any sizes, any shapes from Spectrum collection. Another vegan brand I like – Hourglass make up brushes – they are also amazing quality!

Face Make up

Since 2008, I have using By Terry make up, it has not been a job without By Terry in my kit. The creativity in the blend, the pigments and practicality of the foundation or concealer in that matter. By Terry is the brand behind a lady – Terry de Gunzburg who created famous YSL Touche Eclat click pen invention. Her By Terry Touche Veloutee concealer is much much better. It is concealer and highlighter in one and glides on the face like a dream. Good coverage, creamy consistency and with click-pen could not been easier. I would not describe thick but medium-full concealer coverage which is excellent to cover spots and any imperfections. When it comes to a foundation, By Terry has been my best friend. But trying to swap and change, use different once and I do return to By Terry either Sheer Expert or Terrybly Densillis. Read in my older blog post about By Terry Terrybly Densillis Foundation plus, other four alternative foundations.

Rimmel brand I choose for primer. If you looking for a primer with reasonable tag and has ability to work under your foundation – meaning; mattifies, eliminates shine and minimise pores – then, this Rimmel Match Perfection Fix & Perfect Pro Primer will be the one. Even, if you apply thick face oil ( we might need face oils in winter again ) or, heavier face moisturiser, this choice of Rimmel primer will help the foundation to stay put without sliding of your face. Glides on the skin like a dream. The only down side is – it is not the most natural make up product I used. It takes a while to change all your kit to natural, organic and vegan but I am working on it.

Don’t normally shop at MAC Cosmetics but the Mac store at London St Pancras International can be handy sometimes when’ in need an emergency make up purchase. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish was ideal for Brides and give a little secret away, at times I use it as eye shadow highlighter to give eye-opening power effect! Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder is another make up item to include in make up kit. An invisible pigments, absorb light and gives a Bride an airbrushing-celebrity effect. You can also combine HD foundation with this HD pressed powder if you prefer. You an try; Make up Forever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation.

Eye Make up

Skin-freindlfy and not tested on animals, Rituals Make up is combined with soft pigments and leave the skin smooth and flawless. When it comes to eye shades in pencil form, my favourites are Nudestix. Magnetic eye pencils, long wearing work every time. Effortless application and maximum effect. I also had to play with By Terry Eye Eye Designer Palette Smoky Nude where you have a great choice of nudes. Check the Net-A-Porter web site for other three different palette choice.

Hair Product

Just before Charlotte and the family headed off to the Wedding venue, we managed to get few snaps of all of them. They all looked so beautiful and ready to go. Well, almost. A bit of shine on the hair, every Bride would say Yes to! And, so does everyone else. I used Windle and Moodie Light Shine Spray for the extra shine. Not oily, only ‘shine remains on the hair style. After, they were ready to go now…
